Who we are

This site publishes and promotes the written work of Dr. Rajinder Singh. For any question about this policy, or to exercise any right described in it, write to the privacy contact given at the end.

What we collect

Information you give us. When you use the contact form we collect your name, your email address, the subject category you select, and the content of your message. When you join the mailing list we collect your email address, and your first name where you supply one. When you request a review copy, a speaking engagement, or rights information, we collect the details you provide, including your organisation and role.

Information collected automatically. Our servers record standard technical data each time a page loads: your IP address, browser type and version, operating system, referring page, the pages you view, and the date and time of the request. Our analytics provider records similar information in aggregate so that we can see which pages people read and where the site is slow or broken.

Information from our email platform. If you join the mailing list, our email provider records whether messages are delivered, opened, and clicked. You can stop this at any time by unsubscribing.

We do not collect payment information on this site. Purchases are completed on the websites of the booksellers and platforms we link to, and those transactions are governed by their own policies, not by this one.

We do not knowingly collect information from children under the age of thirteen.

Why we collect it, and on what basis

We use your contact form submission to answer you, and we rely on our legitimate interest in responding to correspondence addressed to us.

We use your email address to send the mailing list and the free preview chapter, and we rely on your consent, which you give when you sign up and withdraw whenever you choose.

We use technical and analytics data to keep the site secure, diagnose faults, and understand which material readers find useful, relying on our legitimate interest in operating and improving the site.

We use press, rights, and speaking enquiries to assess and respond to the request, relying on our legitimate interest in conducting these activities and, where an agreement follows, on the steps necessary to perform it.

Where the law of your country requires consent for any of the above, we ask for it before we proceed.

Who else sees it

We share personal information only with the service providers who make this site work, and only to the extent they need it:

Our web host, which stores the site and its server logs.Our email platform, which stores mailing list addresses and delivers messages. Our analytics provider, which processes usage statistics. Our form provider, where contact form submissions are routed and stored. These providers act on our instructions and are not permitted to use your information for their own purposes. We may also disclose information where a court or a competent authority requires it by law, or where disclosure is necessary to protect our rights or the safety of others. We do not sell personal information, and we do not rent or trade mailing list addresses. Some of these providers operate outside your country. Where information is transferred internationally, we rely on the safeguards those providers have in place, including standard contractual clauses where they apply.

How long we keep it

Contact form correspondence is kept for two years from the last message in the exchange, unless it forms part of an ongoing professional relationship.

Mailing list addresses are kept until you unsubscribe, and are then removed from active lists and retained only in a suppression record so that we do not contact you again by mistake.

Server logs are kept for twelve months. Analytics data is kept in aggregate form according to the retention period set with our provider. Press, rights, and speaking records are kept for as long as the relationship continues and for six years afterwards where a contract or a legal claim may arise.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may ask us to confirm what information we hold about you and give you a copy of it, correct information that is wrong or incomplete, delete information we no longer need, restrict how we use it while a dispute is resolved, object to processing we carry out on the basis of legitimate interest, receive your information in a portable format, or withdraw consent you previously gave.

Withdrawing consent does not affect anything we did lawfully before you withdrew it.

Write to the privacy contact below to exercise any of these rights. We reply within thirty days, and we will tell you if we need longer and why. We may ask you to confirm your identity first, which protects you as much as us.
